Welcome to the Wildflowers of Lessinia site. I am Maurizio Trenchi and I encourage you to enjoy my interest in wildflowers. Few places have the diversity and variety of wildflowers as are found in Verona County. Look for them in the woods, along roadsides, and in your own yard. This website has been created to share their beauty, and to promote the knowledge, appreciation, and use of native plants. The brief introductory remarks that follow, will allow you to move more easily between the pages of the site, since the main menu does not provide sufficient information and does not add anything more than just its title link.
  • Spelling of History - Brief introduction and spelling of History (with a little outburst, for which I apologize).
  • Synoptic - The site is focused on the exposure of taxa found by me on the heights of Lessinia, following the logic adopted in the texts Flora d'Italia (by S. Pignatti, 1982), Flora alpina (by D. Aeschimann, K. Lauber, D.M. Moser, J-P. Theurillat, 2004) and Flora Illustrata del Monte Baldo (by F. Prosser, A. Bertolli, F. Festi, 2009) (to whom refer) with images on. The images that appear on this page are small. Just above I entered the numbers ordered for each taxon. Clicking on the icon will open the magnified image, which will be released by using the "X" on the right side in the bottom. Clicking instead on its number, will open the selected taxon card. This card, which are the same even in the "Search by Family," can, sometimes, contain other clickable icons: a small leaf, a small flower, or small fruits, which open, respectively, the details of the leaf, of the flower and of the fruit of that taxon. The board is closed by clicking anywhere inside the image.
Please note that "Synoptic" as the name implies, lists all the taxa in a single solution. It is important to have a line fast enough to avoid waiting unbearable - as it happens to me! ;-).
  • Search by species - This page shows the summary of the taxon in alphabetical order, first for "genus", then "species". Clicking on the links in bold will open their cards, just as mentioned above.
  • Search for Families - This page allows you to access the alphabetical menu. From this menu you can reach the tab for the selected letter that contains the list of Families with that letter. Just click on the desired Family. Please note that - If you know the Family of a particular subject it is best to use the "Search by Family", which involves less commitment to the line speed.
  • Glossary - It can be accessed by clicking this entry which will lead to an alphabetical list of terms or asterisks, they often are found in the dichotomous key, as an explanation of technical terms, often difficult to interpret.
  • Systematic - Contains an executive summary of Systematic Botany.
  • Dichotomous key - Page containing some dichotomous keys for the determination of the Families on the site. They are derived from the "Flora d'Italia", from "La nostra Flora" and "flora italica" and adapted for research of the Families here present. Therefore do not look for e.g. Anacardiaceae Family, because you will not find it! But if you can't help it is best to consult the "Key of dichotomous Flora Iberica" (see related links).
  • Bibliography - It contains the major texts consulted for the creation of the site and the links leading to sites of interest in botany. That would be good to see.
  • Contacts - Link to contact the Author.
